Songbirds

These little miniatures came in handy for holiday gifts.  I created them to be fun and lighthearted, rather than literal depictions, yet it was a great exercise in representational detail and in working with brushes, rather than the almost exclusive palette knife application I use on my larger abstracts.
Mini 4 x 4 gallery wrap canvases gives one the option of hanging it or setting it on a desk, or in a window.  Very portable!
And now I’m done working so small – back to my abstract landscapes!  I’ll post progress soon.

More birds

I love the personalities of these little birds!  Creating these little gems is therapeutic, but at the same time I am reminded of why I moved toward abstracts… less detail and more freeing.  I think moving back and forth between the two works best for me…
